Welcome to the fourth edition of Blueprint

We are pleased to announce the availability of nCode 2019 and ReliaSoft 2019. This fourth edition of Blueprint features articles that cover the new capabilities and features of the software releases as well as contributions from a customer discussing their application of nCode GlyphWorks in the railway industry. We review our involvement in a multi-year research project with SAE International’s Fatigue Design and Evaluation committee and invite you to attend the 2019 Prenscia User Group Meeting (USA).

nCode 2019 released

nCode 2019 focuses on additional capabilities to help engineers better understand test results and CAE durability simulations with Modal Assurance Criterion (MAC) analysis. Other fatigue analysis related capabilities include advanced manipulations of rainflow matrices and new methods for simulating the fatigue of seam welds. The Premium Materials Database now includes strain-life fatigue properties for additive manufactured titanium alloy (Ti6Al4V) in 5 different conditions.

New analysis capabilities for fatigue life of welded components

Welding is often necessary in product design and production, but it can lead to susceptibility to fatigue cracking. Predicting the fatigue life of welded components is therefore critical to ensuring product durability requirements are met. In this article, we look at new methods for obtaining a more accurate prediction of weld fatigue life that results in improved product durability, reduced overdesign, and lower weight and cost.
